I’m not much of a TBR person. I don’t tend to set TBRs for myself because I can never follow through with them, either because I was too ambitious, or I lost interest along the way and decided to pick up something else.
This month however, I would like to catch up on my “book club” reads. On Goodreads I am a member or the Sword and Laser book club, the Writers of Color book club, and as of very recently, the Hugo Awards Nominees 2015 book club. But because of the reading slump that fell upon me since the beginning of 2015, I fell behind. I usually don’t mind that much because I only read the picks that really interest me, but I did want to read the March and April picks.
For the Sword and Laser book club, March’s pick was The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison (which is handy because it was just nominated for a Hugo Award and I would have to read it anyway), and April’s pick is Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett. I’ve never read any Terry Pratchett so I guess this is as good a place to start as any other.
And for the Writers of Color book club, March’s pick was The Color Purple by Alice Walker, which is a classic that I would like to read, and April’s pick is The Bees by Laline Paull, which is apparently a sci-fi book (which I’m all for) which sounds both interesting and very challenging for the bee/wasp/insect hater that I am. So we’ll see how that goes.
This does not help my 2015 resolution to read only books that I already own. I coincidentally do not “own” any of those books, and have them on Kindle, which will not help reducing my physical TBR.
I haven’t officially taken part in the #0by16 that has been going on, but it is a goal that I definitely try to keep in mind (even though it will be extremely difficult).
